Tongue-in-cheek spoof of a fashion drop is part of a collaboration between pizza brand and Depop.
Pizza brand Papa John’s has launched its latest ad campaign, which also includes a streetwear collaboration with Depop.
The campaign – which is promoting Papa John’s new Cheddar pizza range – leans on satirical humour and references Gen Z street culture, and is positioned as a tongue-in-cheek spoof on a fashion drop, reported The Drum.
An ad features an instrumental ‘Cheddar’ track from hip hop artist B Zino and sees food content juxtaposed with fashion shots of models interacting with the pizza.
The limited edition streetwear has been launched to add authenticity to the drop, with Depop taking real Papa John’s clothing and delivery driver gear and working with a fashion student to turn them into streetwear items.
The range includes deadstock delivery driver uniform in racing greens, greys and blacks with bespoke streetwear embellisments in golds and yellows. All profits will be going to charity.
McDonald’s and KFC have both already entered the merchandise arena, with the former unveiling a collaboration with K-pop band BTS last week.
