Uniqlo reveals Godzilla vs Kong collection and promotion

Retailer launches new tees for adults and children using retro poster art; movie breaks $300m in international markets.

Uniqlo has launched a new collection to tie in with the movie Godzilla vs Kong which includes poster art from past movies.

The new range – which includes six adult designs and three designs for children – features special designs created using retro poster art, in addition to designs inspired by the new film to commemorate its release.

In addition, the retailer has also teamed with Warner Bros. to give fans the chance to win one of three special prize bundles. Movie merchandise on offer includes four of the Uniqlo graphics tees, plus an embroidered hat, wristband/headband, bobbleheads of Godzilla and Kong, a light-up water bottle and a logo projection keychain.

Godzilla vs Kong – which depicts the clash between possibly the world’s most iconic monsters – has broken the $300m mark in international markets this past weekend, now standing at $390m including US takings.

This makes it the biggest grossing Hollywood film of the pandemic era, reported Screen Daily.

More than half the international total has been generated in China where the box office stands at an estimated $177m.

In the UK, the Warner Bros. movie went straight to VOD.
