News extra: More licensing news from this week

Including Rocket Licensing securing a partnership with Kodak to develop the brand across the UK, Eire and Europe.

Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.

Rocket Licensing has secured a partnership with the Kodak brand to represent it in the UK and Eire and Europe. The agency has been tasked with building a consumer products programme in the UK, while expanding on the existing offering in Europe. It will initially be focusing the campaign on categories including apparel, accessories, stationery (including arts and crafts), publishing, games and puzzles and collaborations.

WildBrain CPLG is significantly expanding its representation in EMEA for emoji – the iconic brand. From this month, the UK and Eire, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux and Turkey will be added to the agency’s existing remit (which currently covers CEE, Iberia, Russia, France, MENA, Nordics, Italy, Greece, Poland and Ukraine). The new five-year deal will see WildBrain CPLG represent the emoji brand across key CP categories. Within existing markets, WildBrain CPLG Middle East has secured a new partnership with Kuwaiti sports and high-end fashion retailer, Al Nasser, for an emoji branded apparel range targeting girls and women. RIVA is also gearing up to launch its first emoji fashion collection for teens and women next month.

Peanuts Worldwide is collaborating with PUMA for a line of footwear, apparel and accessories featuring Charles M Schulz’s classic characters. The deal was brokered by WildBrain CPLG’s German team.

Casio, in collaboration with The Pokémon Company, has revealed a new addition to its line-up of BABY-G women’s watches featuring Pikachu. The new timepiece comes hot on the heels of a tie-up last year between the two brands in celebration of BABY-G’s 25th anniversary. The second collaboration introduces an analog-digital watch with an outdoor theme. The band showcases a camouflage pattern and female Pikachu with a heart-shaped tail, while the Pikachu design also include subtle details such as the silhouette of the pink tail on the strap keeper and the Pikachu image etched on the case back. The hour and minute hands also evoke the face of Pikachu.

Panini UK is busy working hard to get more sticker packets into the country to meet strong demand for its Premier League Official Sticker Collection 2021. Sales of the new collection are outperforming the hugely successful 2020 collection, with customers in some parts of the country finding it difficult to lay their hands on sticker packs – especially in Leeds and Birmingham.

Licensing Matters Global has confirmed a long-term partnership with Peugeot Fréres Industrie to expand the Peugeot brand into various sectors outside of the automotive industry. The London-based licensing agency is currently targeting categories including toys, garden power tools, camping equipment, major electrical appliances, sports equipment, travel accessories and fashion among others.

Poetic Brands is teaming up with Moonbug Entertainment and The Point.1888 to create a baby and children’s apparel line for Blippi. The range will include accessories, children’s daywear, outwear and swimwear.

Boat Rocker Studios has revealed a raft of global sales for Dino Ranch, its new animated preschool series. In Germany, the show has been acquired by Super RTL, while it will also air on its time-shift kids’ channel TOGGO Plus. Meanwhile, Gulli has acquired the series in France; while in Scandinavia, NRK (Norway), YLE (Finland) and DR (Denmark) are on board.

Children’s author David Lawrence Jones has produced seven read-aloud videos of the Super Geek Heroes picture books to coincide with National Storytelling Week, which runs from January 30 to February 6, 2021.

ZAG Games has confirmed a partnership with Israel-based start up Toya to create its first game for the Roblox platform for Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. The adventure quest game is scheduled for release in April 2021. It will be the first TV series to enter the Roblox metaverse.
