Museum reveals number of new deals for spring across greeting cards, apparel and home and living.
The V&A has unveiled a number of new collaborations for spring.
First up, the museum has teamed up with Moonpig, offering personalised V&A greeting cards inspired by its rich archives.
The first range includes 24 cards to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions with designs from a variety of inspiration. These include Japanese textiles from the V&A’s East Asia collection, a selection of chintz fabrics from the Fashion and Textiles collection and a design by Nigel Quiney from the 1960s held in the Prints collection.
Further card designs and occasions are due to follow throughout 2021.
Meanwhile, V&A has launched its latest range with ethical fashion retailer, People Tree. The collaboration is now in its fourth successful year and was born out of a mutual appreciation of high-quality materials and a love of print, pattern and colour.
The spring/summer 2021 range features 18th and 19th century designs sourced from the museum’s archives. The result is a blend of People Tree’s aesthetic shapes and styles emblazoned with intricate floral and paisley motifs.
The Anaya print is inspired by a sumptuous embroidered textile housed in the V&A’s collection of South Asian textiles and dress. The original pattern depicts fantastical flora, merging elements of both European and Indian aesthetics. The Neha print is inspired by a sample of dress cotton printed with a paisley pattern created in the mid-19th century when the motif became a popular design for European fabrics.
Finally, the museum has collaborated with FY!, an online marketplace which curates a selection of home and living products from a global community of emerging brands, designers and artists.
The V&A has launched a range of wall art prints inspired by a selection of designs from the archive including Art Deco fashion, illustrations from Aubrey Beardsley and Eric Ravillious, photography from John French, Japanese woodblock prints and vintage posters.
