The Licensing International Foundation has changed its name and also set out a new mission for 2021. This year saw the trade body’s fundraising arm officially change its name to the Licensing International Foundation from the LIMA Cares Foundation. Moving into 2021, the Foundation’s new mission will be focused on the education of future licensing leaders, working to serve as a bridge connecting the licensing and academic community while advancing the understanding of licensing in society. In addition, earlier this month, five companies from around the globe (Spain, Colombia, Italy, UK and US) were selected to receive $5,000 grants as part of the first round of disbursements from the Global Grants Fund.
Anderson Entertainment is gearing up for its biggest Christmas yet at its Gerry Anderson online store. The store has now celebrated its fifth year in business with 50% year on year growth. Notably, the site saw a 100% lift in sales month on month between October and November, although November sales are likely to be overtaken as pre-Christmas buying continues. Shopify has also said that the store was one of its highest growth brands in 2020. Looking ahead to 2021 and new product categories will launch from Q2.
Spread Group (formerly known as Spreadshirt) has expanded its Warner Bros. licensing rights to target new markets: the UK, US, Canada and Australia. The group now owns the licensing rights for 14 brands including Harry Potter, Batman and Friends.
Moonpig has joined forces with KFC once again, this time on a collection of six Christmas cards. The range features carol Zingers, sleigh bells winging and Colonel Sanders slipping a hot wing under the tree, as well as a special lenticular card with a gravy optical illusion.
9 Story Brands has expanded the international licensing programme for Wild Kratts. Björna will be producing an extensive home and apparel line, launching in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland, as well as all Jysk locations worldwide (excluding North America). The brand has also expanded its reach in Germany where the series has aired on SuperRTL since 2012. Both SuperRTL and Edel Kids picked up rights to season four and renewed seasons one to three.
