Kidscape teams with Elmer for Friendship Friday 2020

Partnership with Andersen Press will see a special Kindness Pack sent out to schools and nurseries.

Kidscape – in partnership with Andersen Press and Elmer the Patchwork Elephant – has published a Kindness Pack to help children celebrate kindness, empathy and friendship.

Friendship Friday will be celebrated on Friday November 20, at the end of Anti-Bullying Week. The week is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and is a fantastic opportunity to shine a spotlight on bullying and encourage children of all ages to unite together to stop bullying.

Elmer became the official partner of Friendship Friday in 2019 and throughout this year, the brand and Kidscape have worked together with the aim of spreading kindness to more children and families.

This included responding to the lockdown by sharing the Kidscape and Elmer the Patchwork Elephant ‘Family Fun Plan’, a weekly resource to support families at home, reaching thousands of families throughout England and Wales.

The Kindness Pack is designed for teaching staff in Reception and Year 1, nurseries, preschools, childminders and other early years settings. It also includes activities suitable for parents and carers to support home learning.

The aim is to give short, easy to prepare activities based on the popular stories of Elmer the Patchwork Elephant which enable discussion around themes such as kindness, friendship and empathy.

“Partnering Elmer with Kidscape has been fantastic for us – Kidscape’s mission fits perfectly with the messages woven through the Elmer books – acceptance, tolerance and celebration of our differences,” said Paul Black, PR and brand director at Andersen Press. “The kindness pack from Kidscape gives schools and families an amazing, free resource to explore these themes, which is needed now more than ever.”

Lauren Seager-Smith, ceo of Kidscape, added: “It is important to build kind, caring communities that work together to keep children safe throughout their school journey.

“Working together with Elmer the Patchwork Elephant has been a wonderful opportunity to spark the imaginations and creativity of children as they learn to be kind and empathic to one another. We hope the kindness pack will touch many young lives.”
