Licensed lines contribute significantly to 19% revenue growth for company.
The LEGO Group saw its revenue and operating profit increase in 2015 – with licences such as Star Wars contributing heavily.
The company reported revenue growth of 19% year over year on a local currency basis (excluding foreign exchange impacts).
Revenue increased by 25% in DKK to DKK35.8 billion (2014: DKK28.6 billion), while the year’s operating profit increased to DKK12.2 billion (2014: DKK9.7 billion).
Net profit, meanwhile, stood at DKK9.2 billion, up from 2014’s DKK7.0 billion.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, LEGO Star Wars was a key contributor, while LEGO Dimensions – which merges physical brick building with interactive console gameplay and features such licences as Scooby-Doo, Lord of the Rings, Batman and Ghostbusters among others – was also named as a star performer.
Impressively, all of LEGO’s markets achieved double-digit sales growth in 2015, including in the US, France, Brazil, China and Japan.
“We have achieved significant growth in sales every year for a decade now, and it is highly satisfactory that we can deliver yet another year of double digit sales growth,” said John Goodwin, evp and chief financial officer at The LEGO Group.
