Historic Royal Palaces makes a date with Flame Tree Publishing

Licensee is launching two new 2021 calendars this month.

This month sees Historic Royal Palaces’ licensee Flame Tree Publishing launch two new calendars for 2021.

Palace Prints brings to life the charity’s six palaces through a range of historic prints, paintings and details maps. Meanwhile, Hampton Court Palace Masterpieces focuses on the palace’s multitude of ‘baroque’ wall murals by artist, Antonio Verrio. The murals tell stories about the lives and loves of the gods of ancient Greece and Rome and were designed to add colour and theatricality to the experience of visiting the royal court.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic and a four-month closure of all sites, it has been a challenging start to the financial year for Historic Royal Palaces – the charity that cares for six historic palaces, including the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace and Kensington Palace.

This means that the support of revenue from licensed products has never been more vital to help the charity continue to maintain the buildings in its care.

“The calendars are a wonderful showcase of our palaces,” said Jenny Smyth, licensing manager at Historic Royal Palaces. “Launching in time for the Christmas gift buying season, they offer the chance for consumers to bring the magnificence of the palaces into their own homes.

“Now more than ever we rely on public support, the sale of these calendars will contribute towards the upkeep of these historic sites enabling them to stir the spirit of many generations to come.”

Frances Bodiam, md of Flame Tree Publishing, added:  “It is an absolute pleasure to work with Historic Royal Palaces to publish these two beautiful calendars for 2021, featuring stunning prints and paintings from iconic historic sites.

“We hope to bring a little bit of history into people’s homes, as well as an appreciation for the extraordinary beauty of the artwork.”

Retail partners include garden centres, independent gift and book shops across the UK, France, Germany and Switzerland, as well as www.flametreepublishing.com
