Disney has now rebranded both the famous film studio and its TV studio.
One of the best known names in the entertainment industry – 20th Century Fox – is no more.
Following January’s rebranding of the 85 year old film company as 20th Century Studios, The Walt Disney Company has now rebranded one of its TV studios as 20th Television, reported BBC News.
However, both the 20th Century TV and film rebrands have retained the famous fanfare theme tune and searchlight logo.
Last year Disney completed a $71.3bn (£54.7bn) deal to buy the bulk of the Fox media assets.
The company has also renamed its other TV studios. This includes changing ABC Studios and ABC Signature Studios to ABC Signature, while Fox 21 Television Studios becomes Touchstone Television.
“Our new studio names and logos mark a new day for ABC Signature, 20th Television and Touchstone Television while honouring their rich histories and the creative power of The Walt Disney Company,” commented Craig Hunegs, president of Disney television studios.
20th Century Fox was created in 1935 when Twentieth Century Pictures and Fox Films merged. It is known for producing some of the biggest movies of all time including Titanic and Avatar. Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox Television has been home to major TV shows including The Simpsons and the original Batman series.
20th Century Fox’s former UK headquarters in London’s Soho Square could also disappear. The building’s owner, Royal London Asset Management, applied for planning permission to demolish the building and redevelop the site in May 2019. However, a campaign supported by stars including Sir Paul McCartney, Rosamund Pike and James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli among others meant that Royal London submitted revised plans in March 2020.
A string of objections to the plans were made on Westminster Council’s website, according to The Guardian.
