Is Amazon moving its annual Prime Day to September?

Wall Street Journal reports that key date in the Amazon calendar is shifting from July as retailer aims to get back to pre-pandemic operations.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Amazon will be holding its key annual Prime Day event in September this year.

The two-day sales event – which sees a host of promotions running across all categories – is typically held in July.

However, as the retailer looks to start getting back to pre-pandemic operations, the strains on its warehouses due to surging demand have caused the decision to delay Prime Day by two months.

WSJ also reported that Amazon is now allowing unlimited shipments of non-essential goods to its warehouses, indicating it is now in a position to process orders more quickly, creating room for more inventory.

Shipping speeds have also begun to improve, with more items being returned to one-day delivery each week in the US.
