IP law company, Stobbs has expanded its head count in response to increased demand from brand owners for help with maximising revenues from their IP.
The company has welcomed Esther Jolley as IA director, brand extension as it looks to further utilise its in-house expertise.
Esther (pictured) has previously held senior positions at Beanstalk and CAA-GBG and has numerous years’ experience working with brands including Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Harley-Davidson, Hershey’s, Mercedes-Benz, Ford and Kodak.
She also spent time at watch and clock manufacturer, Zeon, where she worked with licensors such as Disney, BBC, Warner Bros. and eOne.
“Our clients tell us that they are constantly being challenged to find ways to increase brand value and maximise revenue generation through the exploitation of their IP,” commented Julius Stobbs, founder of Stobbs. “Executed appropriately, we know licensing is a great way to do this. While we have been offering brand licensing advice for some time, demand has been increasing along with a need to be flexible in the solutions we suggest.
“Esther brings with her years of on-the-ground commercial experience with world-leading brand owners and manufacturers, and her experience both complements and strengthens our existing team.”
The company created ‘Intangible Asset Management’ – the range of interconnected brand-focused functions around its core business of managing TM portfolios, and providing legal advice relating to all things IP and IA.
Julius continued: “Brand owners have very different aims and objectives when looking at exploiting their IP. In strengthening our licensing expertise, we are not setting ourselves up to operate like a licensing agency and we don’t need to work on a fixed model.
“We want to be very flexible in the solutions we offer. We might be part of our clients’ in-house team; we may help them select the right agency or licensee or complete a short-term project; be that creating a strategy or helping them with a tricky situation. We also have complementary areas of expertise to licensing within our IAM offering such as online brand enforcement and anti-counterfeiting solutions, so we aim to cover all bases.”
