New partners include Cote d’Or in China and Aurora in Japan among others.
V&A continues to extend its licensing programme across key territories and categories.
The museum has welcomed new licensee in China, Cote d’Or which has launched the first in a series of limited edition gift boxes, featuring details of a mid-19th century English furnishing fabric from the V&A’s textile collection.
Meanwhile, a debut collection with Japanese licensee Aurora will see a range of scarves released this spring. The floral motifs featured are examples of Arts and Crafts patterns by William Morris and his company of craftsmen, reinterpreted and recoloured by Aurora to create a range of summery, silk scarves.
Back in the UK, and Branded Tile Company is relaunching its popular collection of V&A wall and floor tiles which explores historic colour palettes based on the South Kensington building, as well as classic patterns from the V&A archive.
New to the collection for 2020 will be a celebration of the natural world including motifs from Japanese art and design from the V&A archive. The range will launch in April.
Tapestry bag specialist, Signare is launching three new designs inspired by the V&A’s extensive collection of textiles and patterns. The range draws inspiration from across the museum’s archive, including two patterns based on beautiful Japanese designs, adapted from silk embroidered Kimono from the 1900s, and a pattern based on one of William Kilburn’s beautiful and complex designs, demonstrating his use of florals, mixed with exotic leaves, ribbons and seaweed. Each design will be available in a range of shapes.
Finally, lifestyle store Beast is expanding its ‘The Modern Times’ range, exploring a playful series of home products capturing the luxurious and modern side of the Art Deco movement. New additions include a trinket tray detailing a silhouette derived from a 1920’s travel poster; a tray inspired by Irving Berlin’s ‘Watch Your Step’ sheet music cover; and a set of side plates featuring illustrations from the magazine Art, Goût, Beauté and artwork by George Barbier.
