British surface pattern designer set to make a splash in licensing

Leonie Somes will debut her art licensing portfolio at Licensing Expo in May.

British pattern designer Leonie Somes is set to move into the world of art licensing, as she gears up to debut her portfolio at Licensing Expo in May.

Leonie’s designs combine traditional and digital techniques to create art that has visual impact and showcases her own distinctive point of view. Defined by expressive line drawings, abstract brush strokes and a modern take on techniques such as Batik, Shibori and Block printing, each collection aims to uplift and brighten the world around us.

Leonie’s collections focus on abstract florals, textural prints, geometrics and holiday themes.

She believes that the layering of mixed media allows her greater creativity and expression, with her designs being suited to fabrics, home décor, stationery and textile products.

“I love the whole process from first inspirations, to creating finished collections, then seeing them out in the world,” Leonie commented. “It is an amazing journey and I hope to make others feel just a little more cheerful or uplifted by bringing my designs to the products we use in our daily lives. For me, it is all about taking the time to appreciate what surrounds us.”

Leonie will be exhibiting on booth J79 at Licensing Expo, which runs from May 19-21 in Las Vegas.
