Sky ramps up kids programming

Sky acquires DreamWorks’ Where’s Wally? along with raft of original commissions.

Sky has demonstrated its ambition to ramp up its kids programming, acquiring DreamWorks Animation’s Where’s Wally?, alongside a raft of original commissions for Sky Kids.

The move follows recent success for the broadcaster with Moominvalley, Morph and the BAFTA-winning Play Your Pets Right.

Where’s Wally? will line-up alongside original commissions including Not The End of The World, which follows the adventures of 11 year old Joe Connolly in his first year at secondary school somewhere in the UK; and Bad Nature, a live action comedy which combines natural history footage with state of the art animation, following the anchors and their roving animal reporters answering wonderfully weird questions, such as which animal’s poo can be seen from space and what animal turns into a block of ice to combat the cold?

In addition, Pirates Love Underpants is based on the book by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort, published by Simon & Schuster, while short-form preschool animated series Streetcat Bob is inspired by the bestselling book, A Street Cat Named Bob.

“Sky Kids is passionate about creating the best shows for under 12s and finding new talent to work with,” said Lucy Murphy, director of kids content at Sky. “Our new original shows, alongside DreamWorks Animation’s Where’s Wally? bring music, natural history, comedy and innovative stories to our Kids service so there is even more for the whole family to enjoy.”
