Numberblocks, Hilda among BAFTA Children’s Award winners

Horrible Histories, Odd Squad, Tee and Mo also receive accolades at 2019 ceremony.

The British Academy Children’s Awards 2019 took place on Sunday December 1, with a number of names familiar to the licensing industry picking up accolades.

The awards – which were held at The Brewery, London – recognise the best in children’s media, from programmes and films through to presenters and performers.

Hilda from Silvergate Media/Netflix picked up the award for Animation, while CBeebies was awarded Channel of the Year.

The Comedy category was won by the ever popular Horrible Histories, while Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse topped the Feature Film category.

Teen Titans Go! won the International Animation category, with Odd Squad picking up International Live Action.

It was a big night for Blue Zoo’s Numberblocks which saw off strong competition from Hey Duggee, Floogals and Digby Dragon to win the Preschool Animation category.

Meanwhile, Tee and Mo: Help our Little World was awarded the Short Form category, and the writing team for Cartoon Network’s The Amazing World of Gumball picked up the Writer accolade.
