A ghoulishly good Halloween for Rubie’s UK

Licensed fancy dress specialist reported a double-digit growth this year, when compared to October 2018.

According to the latest information from the global fancy-dress experts, Rubie’s UK had a fantastic Halloween, with double-digit growth this year, when compared to October 2018.

A renewed focus on kids generic lines created some great performers, but it was the strength of Rubie’s brand portfolio that really made the difference to this year’s Halloween success.

Wizarding World and Marvel’s Endgame continue to inspire kids, while the new Nightmare Before Christmas lines – Sally Finkelstein and Jack Skellington – also launched brilliantly into Halloween.

Warner Bros. horror properties continue to be popular for adults and Rubie’s certainly benefitted from this year’s movie slate, which included launches such as IT Chapter 2 and psychological thriller The Joker, which created a renewed interest in all iterations of the character.

Gaming franchise Fortnite really took off this Halloween, with the Black Knight and Skull Trooper characters proving most popular. Raptor, Frozen Raven, Archetype and Wild Card were new additions to the range in 2019 and also launched well.

The biggest news in October though, was the on-shelf date of Friday October 4 for Frozen 2. Retail demand for official licensed costumes from the hotly-anticipated sequel was high and with the movie now in cinemas, Christmas and beyond is looking promising.

“2019 has been a year of change for Rubie’s,” said managing director Holly Oldham. “Halloween has seen the start of our growth drive. We’re excited about the potential for Frozen 2 and looking forward to 2020.”
