The Royal Mint and Penguin Ventures are releasing a second coin in The Snowman series. Taking inspiration from the original hand-drawn book illustrations, the coin features James and The Snowman about to fly off on their magical adventure to the North Pole. In addition to the new coin, The Royal Mint is also launching a limited edition Minty piggy bank which will feature a special Snowman design.
Aardman has also partnered with The Royal Mint to celebrate 30 years of Wallace & Gromit with a new commemorative coin. The 50p is inspired by the original short film, A Grand Day Out, which saw the duo build and launch a rocket ship to the moon. The coin features the Latin inscription ‘Caseus Praestans’, which translates to ‘cracking cheese’ and depicts the characters and the outer shell of the rocket ship.
In time for the premiere of the fourth season on Adult Swim on November 10, BoxLunch is releasing a curated collection of merchandise for Rick and Morty. The range includes apparel, home goods, accessories, games and pet products among others. In addition. BoxLunch has teamed up with emerging electric vehicle brand Super73 for a sweepstake for fans to win a custom Rick S1 Electric Motorbike or a Morty Z1 Electric Motorbike.
Nordstrom and Nike have debuted an exclusive Nike x Olivia Kim capsule collection starring Betty Boop. The apparel launch – which was developed exclusively for Nordstrom x Nike boutiques – kicks off the character’s 90th anniversary celebrations. As a nod to 1990’s club flyers, Betty’s wink has been adapted into the Nike swoosh and the exclusive graphic appears of jerseys, t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats, as well as a hangtag on five trainer styles. The deal was secured by King Features.
Warner Bros. Pictures has landed a multi-film pact with Locksmith Animation, the UK CG feature studio, to co-develop and distribute its slate of pictures. The deal covers the development and production of family animated features for worldwide theatrical distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Robinson Home Products has launched a range of Delish branded kitchen and dining products in partnership with Delish.com. The deal was brokered by IMG.
Californian lifestyle brand, B.U.M. Equipment has appointed The Brand Liaison to lead its US licensing programme. The B.U.M. brand has achieved worldwide sales of over $2 billion over three decades, with The Brand Liaison looking to build on its heritage with new partners and current fashion trends.
Toon2Tango has secured a major new distribution deal for a kids’ animated series which offers a fresh take on the concept of monster hunters. Monster Park – which made a strong impression at the recent Cartoon Forum – has “enormous” potential, according to the company.
Mondo TV – the licensing agency in Italy, Spain and Portugal for interactive plush toy brand, Feisty Pets – has secured a book deal. From Q2 2020, Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial will launch four Feisty Pets books – a ‘look and find’ book, an official handbook, a quirky quizzes book and a puzzle and activity book. All will incorporate the concept that has made Feisty Pets so popular: cute-featured animals that transform into ‘Feisty’ pets with a squeeze.
