Coca-Cola teams with Diesel on recycled collection collab

Major collaboration on The (Re) Collection aims to raise awareness on the value of recycling.

With sustainability fast becoming a key trend within the licensing space, two major brands have joined forces for a new collaboration which aims to raise awareness of the value of recycling.

Diesel has teamed up with Coca-Cola to create The (Re) Collection – a capsule collection partially made of recycled materials.

The range – which hits stores this autumn – has been made with materials such as recycled PET from plastic bottles and recycled cotton to create ‘a fresh, modern interpretation of Diesel’s casualwear aesthetic combined with Coca-Cola iconicity to make a statement’.

Diesel x Coca-Cola: The (Re) Collection launched exclusively online on Friday September 27, with consumers needing to scan any recycling logo worldwide, giving them access to a hidden site on Diesel.com to shop the collection.

The collaboration will roll out worldwide from October 7, with a global first showcase of The (Re) Collection at Galeries Lafayette in Paris.

The launch event in Paris will be followed by a series of collateral events that will take place around the world including London, Berlin, Milan, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, Amsterdam and New York among others.

The 12-piece range includes hero denim items such as a unisex workwear jacket featuring red stitching detailing, with the Coca-Cola logo. There is also a black zip jersey tracksuit, denim workwear pants, hooded sweatshirts and t-shirts among other lines.

“We are excited to partner with Diesel on this collection,” said Michelle Moorehead, vp of global licensing and retail at The Coca-Cola Company. “Not only does The (Re) Collection generate awareness of the importance of recycling in a very approachable way by showcasing beautiful fashions created from recycled materials. It’s also a collection that celebrates individuality.”

Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel, said that the collaboration is between “two authentic and iconic brands that are both committed to a more responsible business”.

Renzo added: “Inspired by our vision of the future, we are collaborating with Coca-Cola to explore new methods of creating fabrics, while challenging ourselves to incorporate recycled materials in our collections.”
