The Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.

The stellar voice cast for The Tiger Who Came to Tea – which is due to air on Channel 4 this Christmas – has been confirmed. Based on the classic children’s book by the late Judith Kerr OBE, the 30-minute animated film will aim to bring to life the vivid images and story. Benedict Cumberbatch, Tamsin Greig, David Oyelowo, David Walliams and Paul Whitehouse will portray the familiar characters of Daddy, Mummy, Tiger, Narrator and Milkman respectively, while seven year old Clara Ross makes her TV debut as Sophie. The Tiger Who Came to Tea – which has sold over five million copies since it was first published in 1968 – is published by HarperCollins Children’s Books, while the animation is produced by Lupus Films.

Science Division has created an app-enabled lifelike Tribble – complete with Klingon-seeking abilities – under licence from CBS Consumer Products. Debuting at the Star Trek Las Vegas 2019 convention (running until August 4), attendees will be able to interact with the furry characters, testing out the app. Science Division Tribbles come with three operating modes – At Ease, On Duty and Watchdog.

This year’s DreamToys event will take place on Wednesday November 13 at St Mary’s Church in Marylebone. The independent listing of the top toys for Christmas often includes a number of licensed ranges. Run by the Toy Retailers Association, the DreamToys list is selected by an independent panel of retailers and industry experts, based on individual products that are in general distribution when DreamToys launches.
