Blue Chalk Design opens its doors

Well known industry execs Louise Hinds and Louise Nixon form new design agency.

Long time industry colleagues Louise Hinds and Louise Nixon have opened the doors of their new design agency, Blue Chalk Design.

The duo have worked together for 14 years and have 35 years combined experience in the licensing industry.

Louise Hinds (pictured above left) was most recently licensing and creative director at VMC Accessories, while Louise Nixon (pictured above right) also worked with the licensee until the beginning of 2019, when she became a freelance designer.

They have worked with a raft of companies over the years including studios such as Disney and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, big name licensors such as Nickelodeon and agencies including CPLG, Fluid World and Rocket Licensing.

In terms of retailers, the duo have developed product into all types across grocer, high street and online including George @ Asda, Nutmeg, Tu, Tesco, ASOS, Claires Accessories and Matalan among others.

“With the current economy’s affect on the industry, we understand how important it is to deliver commercial and engaging product to retail, working to a critical path,” Louise Hinds told Source. “Our experience provides us with a unique approach to this new venture. We believe we can help ease the design process from licensor to licensee to retail.

“I have strong creative vision, combined with strategic thinking, while Louise [Nixon] brings great skill in graphic and product design. We both have a keen interest in fashion and upcoming trends, and we understand how to interpret them into licence graphics. This ensures they are appropriate for the region and age, considering brand DNA and guidelines.”
