Mark Tomlin embarks on new role at Bespoke77

Former Somerbond director of licensing becomes md of ceramics wholesaler.

Mark Tomlin has made the move from licensed apparel to licensed ceramics, taking on a new role with Bespoke77.

Mark (pictured) has been named managing director of the ceramics wholesaler, which supplies its products to the retail and restaurant trade such as Bills, Carlucci’s, Byron and Prezzo among others.

As well as the expansive ceramic side of the business, Bespoke 77 also has ranges in glass, terracotta, wood, metals and textiles.

Mark, who spent some 18 years at Somerbond – most recently as director of licensing – will now look to transfer his licensed apparel skills to a new sector, having been tasked with building up the branded side of the business.

“I loved apparel and fashion because it was all about change and the ‘new’,” Mark told Source. “I want to bring the excitement of fashion and innovation into our products. For the retail experience to become more relevant again, it must embrace new more individual merchandise.

“Bespoke77 has been established since 1977 and is an expert in its field. We will leverage these great qualities along with classic, contemporary and even sometimes a kitsch approach to innovative design, producing outstanding merchandise.”

The company has already signed a number of licences – which will be revealed shortly – and will be using what Mark describes as “the individual integrity” of each franchise to develop bespoke products.”
