The Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.

CPLG has brokered a deal with Bravado to create a pop up shop offering a collection of BT21 merchandise. The new IP has been created through a collaboration between Line Friends and global boy band BTS, and has already attracted an unprecedented wave of popularity from millenials around the world. The collection includes limited edition BT21 London apparel. The store is open until Sunday June 2 at a secret location in Camden.

The Pokémon Company International has teamed up with Hamleys and Harrods for a raft of activity to coincide with the arrival of Pokémon Detective Pikachu at cinemas. In addition, the company has also collaborated with Primark on an exclusive range of women’s apparel.

Magic Light Pictures is running a pop up shop dedicated to The Gruffalo in London’s Covent Garden until Saturday June 1. The pop up covers two floors and gives fans of the brand a unique immersive experience. As well as a dedicated retail space, there are arts and crafts, storytelling sessions, free film screenings and special appearances from the character.

Cartoon Network Enterprises is bringing girl power to Burger King with a special partnership with The Powerpuff Girls. Four exclusive toys featuring Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, along with villain Mojo Jojo, will be offered in King Jr meals through the summer across the US, Canada, Asia Pacific and Latin America (excluding Brazil).

CPLG Germany has acquired Team! Licensing to create a new agency powerhouse.

Evolution USA is on board to develop and manage the licensing programme for Just Play’s girls’ collectable doll brand, Hairdorables.

Jazwares has appointed The Brand Liaison to manage the Russ Berrie and Applause licensing programmes. The company is looking to build the brands beyond the core categories of plush and figurines.

Meanwhile, Jazwares has been appointed as the master toy partner for kids YouTube star, Blippi. Printers Row Publishing Group is on board as publishing partner.

Tokyo-based Sony Creative Products – which manages the licensing in the Japanese market for Tama and Friends – has announced the success of its month-long opening of the first ever pop up store in Taiwan dedicated to the brand. The store sold both original Taiwan-licensed Tama merchandise and imported goods from Japan.

WildBrain has appointed Elia Bouthors to the newly created role of strategy and innovation director. Elia joins from The Walt Disney Company where he was digital strategy and business development director.

License Connection has been appointed to represent the design brand Annie Phillips for a range of licensing opportunities.

CBS Consumer Products and Desilu are joining forces to manage the licensing programme for classic sitcom, I Love Lucy.

Pocket.watch has revealed HobbyKids Adventures, the studio’s latest creator franchise based on YouTube family, HobbyKidsTV.

The CupOfTherapy brand and its global master agency and business development partner, Ferly Co., has appointed multiple regional licensing agencies in selected Asian territories. Daewon Media (Korea), Gaia (Japan) and Forkids (HK) Promotional Company (mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau) are all now on board. CupOfTherapy is a Finnish concept which introduces themes of wellbeing and mental health through approachable animal figures.
