Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Entertainment hit the international toy fair circuit this week. At both Nuremberg and New York, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will have a ‘super hero’ presence, with a raft of licensees supporting the brand. In addition, the DC Super Hero Girls toy line will be presented for the first time in Mattel’s showroom. Visitors to New York toy fair later on in February will also get to see the Batmobile at the new Play Fair event.
Word of Web – the global brand management company representing Pusheen the Cat – has appointed local agents in two key regional markets. Haven Licensing will be representing the brand in Australia/New Zealand, while Brand New Day Licensing will handle Mexico.
Animation studio Rainbow has appointed Simba Dickie Group as the master toy partner for its new live action girls’ series, My American Friend (working title). The toy line – like the show – will be inspired by fashion, music and role play.
Disney Consumer Products and Bandai unveiled the new global product line-up for Finding Dory. Bandai’s range includes play-sets, interactive toys, feature figures, plush and bath toys among others. Specific highlights include the My Friend Dory interactive soft figure, which features 50 different phrases as Dory responds to swimming and upside down movements; plus the Swigglefish Figure Assortment including Dory, Nemo and Marling moveable figures.
eOne has partnered with Italian cruise ship company, Costa Cruises, for branded Peppa Pig kids areas and activities to feature on board ten ships, reaching more than 200 destinations across the world.
The Pokémon Company International unveiled a new TV ad which will air during Super Bowl 50 on Sunday February 7. The ad, shot in Rio de Janeiro, celebrates the millions of Pokémon fans around the world, encouraging them to enjoy the Pokémon references hidden in the ad and ‘Train on’. A 30-second version of the ad will be aired at the beginning of the third quarter of the game.
Rainbow Designs debuted its new Sensory Miffy character at London’s Toy Fair. Preschoolers simply touch Sensory Miffy’s hand, foot, tummy, ear, mouth or head and Miffy will name the body part that is being pressed. The toy also plays the theme tune from Miffy’s Adventures Big and Small.
Komixx Media Group announced that its stop motion animation show, Toby’s Travelling Circus, has been acquired by Italian broadcaster Rai YoYo.

Mattel and Hit Entertainment confirmed a host of new broadcast deals across Europe for the latest series of Bob the Builder. France 5, Z@pplin (Netherlands), VRT (Belgium), Rai YoYo (Italy), E-TV (South Africa), MiniMini (Poland), Turner (UK), RTE (Ireland) and Hop (Israel) are all signed up. Super RTL in Germany has also signed for series two from September 2016.
