Movie has the UK and Ireland’s biggest opening ever with £43.4 million.
The consumer products lines for Avengers: Endgame are likely to get a significant boost, with the movie smashing a host of UK and Ireland box office records.
The eagerly anticipated film – the conclusion to the 22 films in the Marvel Universe – secured the UK and Ireland’s biggest opening ever with £43.4 million.
This position was previously held by Spectre, which had a seven-day holiday opening.
Avengers: Endgame also enjoyed the highest grossing opening day of all time at the box office, taking £11.9 million on Thursday April 25 – a record previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
In addition, it had the biggest grossing day of all time on Saturday April 27, taking £12.05 million – previously held by Marvel Studios’ Infinity War – as well as the biggest Sunday of all time on April 28 with £10.2 million (previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens).
The movie also made global box office history, becoming the first film to surpass $1 billion in its debut weekend, taking $1.2 billion worldwide.
The consumer products programme for Avengers: Endgame includes lines from Funko, Hasbro, Rubie’s and LEGO among others.
