IFLScience marks Earth Day with Luumi tie up

Company also creates line of t-shirts as part of tie up with silicon-based product creator.

IFLScience teamed up with Luumi – creator and maker of 100% silicon-based products – to mark Earth Day on Monday, April 22.

Every product bought from the IFLScience store collection equates to 100 plastic bags removed out of circulation in Thailand – which is one of the five countries responsible for 60% of global ocean plastic. Studies show that, on average, Thais use eight plastic bags per day, equating to 200 billion bags per year.

IFL’s goal is to donate 1,000 silicon bags to local Thais, equating to one million plastic bags removed.

As well as the Luumi tie up, IFLScience has also created a line of t-shirts for the cause.

Michele Kuprewicz, head of retail and licensing, explained: “Every year we celebrate Earth Day and this year we have the pleasure of partnering with Luumi. Their products are amazing.

“We also created a line of t-shirts just for this cause. Plastic waste is a huge global problem, so we are excited to be able to help Andrew and his team at Luumi to help our planet.”
