Amazon reveals last minute Christmas purchases

Rubik’s Cube, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Assassin’s Creed make the listing.

Amazon has revealed some of the nation’s last minute Christmas Eve purchases, which included some licensed names last year.

The list of items covers everything from stocking fillers – such as Rubik’s Cubes – through to gift wrap, gift bags and Christmas cards, plus family fun with games such as Pie Face included.

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System was one of many items ordered on Christmas Eve 2017, while British beer brands such as BrewDog Punk IPA also featured.

Amazon also broke down purchases during key time frames – to highlight its Prime Now ultra fast delivery service – with Yankee Candles, Jamie Oliver’s Quick and Easy Food and Assassin’s Creed Origins Gods Collector’s Edition all popular between 8am and 3.59pm on December 24, 2017.

Late festive items purchased between 4pm and 9.59pm included Beyoncé’s Heat perfume and Monopoly Ultimate Banking Game.

“Enjoying the festive break is hugely important for customers, making convenience an absolute priority,” said Matt Knight, head of marketing for Amazon’s Prime Now service in the UK. “Last year Amazon saw a variety of items purchased with only hours to spare before Christmas Day, including food and drink, beauty gifts, toys and tech.

“Prime Now deliveries can be made in one or two hours slots on the same day which means customers can save the day by ordering and taking delivery of gifts and essential must-haves on Christmas Eve, while enjoying time with family and friends.”
