Ladybird’s grown up titles hit 1.2m units

How it works: The Husband is top seller over the Christmas period.

Penguin Random House is celebrating a staggering 1.2 million unit sales for its Ladybird books for grown ups collection.

How it works: The Husband was the book trade’s number one selling title for Christmas, giving Penguin Random House its first Christmas number one in three years.

How it works: The Wife and The Ladybird Book of the Hangover came in at number two and three respectively in terms of sales.

“Considering where we were at the start of BLE, thinking this would be a small capsule collection to test the market, the end results have been nothing short of phenomenal,” Damian Treece, brand manager, licensing and IP at Penguin Random House told The Source.

“A very fitting and fun end to the year of Ladybird Books centenary celebrations.”

A further title – How it works: The Mum – is now available for pre-order and will be out in time for Mother’s Day.
