The news of a licensing programme around the Metropolitan Police has excited the national press – with coverage appearing across a variety of publications including the front page of The Times.
The Source revealed earlier this month that the Metropolitan Police Service had tasked The Point.1888 to be its exclusive brand extension partner as it looks to build on its consumer products programme.
As well as The Times, coverage has so far appeared on Sky News, plus The Daily Mail, The Guardian and The Evening Standard among others, with The Point.1888’s md Will Stewart telling The Source that the media enquiries are continuing to flood in.
“We are very passionate about building brands with purpose and putting bobbies on the beat in my home town through licensing is an honour,” Will commented. “There’s no possible way we could have predicted how much this was going to take off today but I’ve already had to put my phone onto voicemail with media enquires contact details.
“It’s not every day you get calls from the BBC, CNN, Sky, Telegraph, but it’s not every day you appear on the front page of The Times. Even the Sun has run the story next to an elf in her undies!
“What a brand to talk about now that we can take licensing into the mainstream media. This really is living the dream.”
By expanding the Metropolitan Police Service brand into new categories and new retail channels, it is hoped it will generate significant income to reinvest in front-line police services, training existing staff and building greater affiliation with, and support for the service.
