Licensed names bag BAFTA Children’s nominations

Hey Duggee, Clangers, Octonauts, Sarah & Duck, Paddington 2 among the shortlist.

The nominations for this year’s British Academy Children’s Awards have been revealed, with a number of familiar licensed names making an appearance.

BAFTA’s annual ceremony celebrates the best in global children’s media and will take place on Sunday November 25 at London’s Roundhouse.

The Preschool Animation category will be hard fought by previous winner Hey Duggee, Clangers, Octonauts and Sarah & Duck, while Waffle the Wonder Dog is among the nominees in the Preschool Live Action category.

Hey Duggee is also nominated in the Digital category – for The Counting Badge – while The Amazing World of Gumball lines up alongside Horrible Histories in the Comedy category.

CBeebies receives its 12th consecutive nomination for Channel, the only channel to receive one every year since the category was introduced in 2006.

Meanwhile, the Film category includes Coco, Incredibles 2 and Paddington 2, which will all go up against The Greatest Showman.

The Deep, SpongeBob Squarepants and Trollhunters are all given the nod in International Animation, while Doc McStuffins and Vampirina are in the running for International Preschool.
