Bitz & Bob reveals Science Museum tie-up

Boat Rocker Rights secures deal for brand to take part in upcoming family festival.

CBeebies series Bitz & Bob is to head around the UK in a series of activities aimed at inspiring children to take an interest in STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) and to extend the experiences at home.

The brand will be taking part in the Science Museum’s forthcoming ‘We Are Engineers’ family festival in London before touring local venues, schools and nurseries nationwide with special themed workshops delivered by The Creation Station.

The Bitz & Bob Experimentation Station will be at the festival, which runs across October half term (October 20-28), showcasing some activities that mini engineers will want to create again and again at home. Kids will be encouraged to use their ‘Engineer-o-vision’ and join in with experiments such as creating balloon rockets, bubble blowers and liquid balls. Meet and greet sessions with Bitz will run from October 20-23.

The activation will be run by The Creation Station, which will also host a series of Bitz & Bob themed workshops in over 100 local venues, schools and nurseries across the UK from November 5-12 at the Little Explorers and Create Clubs sessions.

The workshops will be supported by a full range of PR and marketing activities.

“We are hugely excited to be working with the Science Museum and The Creation Station on these two new activations that will allow children to experience engineering first hand,” said Nicola Herrmann, director of global brands at Boat Rocker Rights. “We know from the popularity of our companion show ‘Bitz & Bob You Can Do it Too’ that children love watching the associated experiments and makes from each episode, so it is fantastic to be able to give them hands on experience.

“We really hope that these projects will be the start of inspiring a whole new generation of engineers.”

Sarah Cressall, founder of The Creation Station, added: “We are thrilled to partner with the much loved Bitz & Bob and the Science Museum to help engage children in activities that spark their interest in STEM subjects.

“Introducing a creative approach to learning about these subjects helps children to explore, discover, make connections, ask questions, understand and develops a wealth of problem solving and thinking skills. We look forward to nurturing the creative spark in each child during these fun hands-on workshops.”
