Backyard Cinema to host The Snowman experience

Penguin Ventures inks deal for exclusive cinematic experience as part of 40th celebrations.

Penguin Ventures is partnering with themed cinema experts Backyard Cinema for a world exclusive cinematic experience of The Snowman.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic story, Backyard Cinema is creating an exclusive immersive multi-roomed and multi-sensory cinematic adventure at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

Backyard Cinema Presents: The Snowman Experience opens from November 22, 2018 to January 6, 2019.

Spread across 5,000 square feet in the heart of the IMG-produced Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, The Snowman Experience will be made up of replica sets of the famous film.

Boasting a giant 10 metre wide curved screen made up of 300 LED panels, the aim is to make guests feel as if they’re flying beside The Snowman.

“When we started planning for the Snowman 40th celebrations we were keen to create some outstanding new experiences that could be enjoyed by everyone,” said Thomas Merrington, creative director at Penguin Ventures. “We are thrilled to be working with Backyard Cinema who have been an extraordinary partner and have enabled us to bring The Snowman to life in an entirely new way.

“We are certain that The Snowman Experience will create unforgettable memories for all generations of visitors to Winter Wonderland Festival this year.”

Dominic Davies, founder and creative director of Backyard Cinema, added: “When we started working on this project it became clear that watching The Snowman at Christmas was a huge tradition for the team, so having the chance to work with such a popular character who is close to the hearts of so many people has been a real honour.

“We wanted to give people the chance to enjoy this Christmas classic in a way they never could have imagined and so have tried to really challenge the perception of what it means to watch The Snowman. Hopefully in doing so we have created a little bit of magic that everyone can believe in for a short while.”
