Gemma welcomes brace of new signings

Popular licensee adds Watership Down and Simon’s Cat to its portfolio.

Gemma International has further bolstered its portfolio, adding two key brands to its Studio By Gemma roster.

The licensee has secured a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment for Watership Down (pictured), plus a deal with Endemol Shine UK for Simon’s Cat, both for greeting cards and gift packaging.

“We love the charming, yet mischievous humour that is Simon’s Cat, a YouTube and Facebook sensation, and perfect for greeting cards,” commented Tim Rudd-Clarke, licensing director at Gemma. “Our design team has thoroughly enjoyed designing the range, which will be available from September 2018.

“We had originally scheduled a 2019 launch, but retailer interest has driven an earlier autumn 2018 launch.”

Meanwhile, Watership Down will be a greeting cards and gift packaging line inspired by the upcoming four-part mini-series due to air on BBC1 this Christmas.

Licensing manager, Thalia Clare, commented: “The style guide is simply stunning and we can’t wait for our customers to see the designs. Our greetings range will be available at retail from early 2019.”
