England Cricket trading cards take off at retail

Tap’N’Play enjoying success following launch of inaugural collection in UK.

Australian sports collectables specialist Tap’N’Play is enjoying success with its first collection in the UK – Official 2018 England Cricket Trading Cards.

Already firmly established in its home territory – with long-term contracts with Cricket Australia, Australian Rugby Union, Football Australia and Netball Australia – Tap’N’Play has now produced the first mainstream cricket collectable for more than 20 years, and the first to feature the England Women’s Cricket Team.

The cards were given an early boost thanks to the England men’s opening Test victory against India at Edgbaston, with packets selling well at the Birmingham venue over the course of the match.

In addition, Sainsbury’s has enjoyed good initial take-up for the cards and is now stocking them in an additional 400 stores, while Tesco, Spar and general convenience stores have also seen encouraging early sales.

This marks the first in several planned cricket releases for Tap’N’Play in the UK, with trading card collections planned for both the ICC Cricket World Cup and the Ashes in 2019.

Tap’N’Play has also organised giveaway initiatives with county cricket clubs and junior coaching courses to further raise awareness of the cards among young fans.
