LIMA UK outlines Young Professionals events for 2018

Three seminars will highlight creation, production and distribution of character IP.

LIMA UK has unveiled its Young Professionals programme for 2018 – with the series of seminars aiming to give future licensing executives an insight into the process of how the character IPs they represent are created, produced and distributed.

The ambitious educational programme – which is supported and sponsored by Brandcomply.com – begins on June 28, with the first event being hosted by Nickelodeon at its London office.

Keith Chapman – the man behind hit properties including PAW Patrol, Bob the Builder and Fifi and the Flowertots – will give his insights into the creation of iconic IPs, sharing his experience with the assembled delegates.

In addition, the event will also see the six nominees of the LIMA UK Rising Star Award announced. Entries are open until June 22 and you can find out more by clicking on this link.

All nominees will receive a ticket to The Licensing Awards on September 11 (courtesy of LIMA UK) where the winner will be announced.

July 19 will then see a LIMA UK coffee morning take place at The Club at the Ivy. This will see Andrew Carley and Nardis Roscoe from eOne deliver a special presentation on how Peppa Pig is made, including animatics and storyboard examples.

In addition, a third event will be held at Cartoon Network’s London office on December 6 on TV content and the changing landscape, aiming to give licensing executives an introduction on content distribution, followed by the festive party.

The popular YPN Bowling Tournament will also return, taking place on August 28 at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes.

“YPN events and seminars are designed for young licensing executives to connect with leaders in the industry, make peer connections and learn a little something new that can hopefully provide fresh insight to their current positions,” said LIMA UK md, Kelvyn Gardner.

Ryan Beaird, marketing and operations manager at LIMA UK, added: “The aim of these new LIMA UK young professionals events for 2018 is to show our future licensing executives the process of how character IP’s they represent for licensing are created, produced and finally distributed. Something they may not be involved in or see in their daily roles.

“We hope it gives the young licensing industry an insight on how a character IP becomes a global brand and the work that goes into the development and production.”
