Disney remains top brand licensor for almost a decade

Company once again leads the annual Top 150 Global Licensors report.

The latest annual Top 150 Global Licensors report has been released – with The Walt Disney Company having now remained in the number one position for almost a decade.

The report – which is compiled by License Global – showed Disney as having sales of $53 billion.

Its performance was driven by the likes of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Beauty and the Beast, Coco and Cars 3 among others.

Several new companies also joined the listing including Crayola, Alpha Group, The Astrid Lindgren Company, The Emoji Company, Golden West Food Group, Games Workshop, Hachette Filipacchi Presse, IMPS (International Merchandising, Promotions & Services), Motorola, Shanghai Skynet, Talpa Global and ZAG.

“The annual Top 150 Global Licensors report is an excellent temperature gauge on the global brand licensing industry and provides a snapshot of retail’s impact on the whole,” said Amanda Cioletti, content director at License Global.

The Top 5 Global Licensors according to the 2018 report are:

  • The Walt Disney Company – $53 billion
  • Meredith Corporation – $23.2 billion
  • PVH Corp – $18 billion
  • Universal Brand Development – $7.3 billion
  • Hasbro – $7.1 billion
