British Museum reveals Royal Selangor collab

Collection of homeware and personal accessories inspired by legacy of early Europeans.

The British Museum has revealed a new collaboration with Royal Selangor for a collection of homeware and personal accessories.

The pieces have been inspired by the rich artistic legacy of the early Europeans and features a wide range of design inspirations from the Iron Age, Anglo-Saxon, Celtic and Viking cultures.

Items include a tea caddy inspired by the Sutton Hoo helmet; a tankard which takes on delicate animal-shaped motifs from one of the Basse-Yutz flagons unearthed in France; a vase; letter opener; pendant; photo frame; cufflinks; trinket box; valet tray; and a candle stand.

“The British Museum is delighted to be in partnership with Royal Selangor, who have demonstrated an assured understanding of the Museum’s collection as well as a creative flair in terms of how that collection might be translated into contemporary homeware products,” said Craig Bendle from the British Museum.

“The development process has taken months of collaborative design work resulting in fantastic designs that are inspired directly from objects. We hope that this first British Museum collection will strike a chord with Royal Selangor’s discerning customers.”

TSBA Group – which is the licensing agent for the British Museum – is continuing to grow the programme. Other recent deals include an apparel capsule collection with YouMustCreate for French Connection, luxury writing instruments and a nationwide roll out of greeting cards with WH Smiths.
