Licensing Expo Japan begins to take shape

Over 350 international and Japanese brands will be at the show from April 25-27.

Following on from its successful debut in 2017, this year’s Licensing Expo Japan is taking shape.

The event returns to the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Center, running from April 25-27.

It will feature over 350 international and Japanese brands and will be collocated with IFF MAGIC Japan, the leading exhibition for the branded fashion industry in Japan.

LIMA Japan will lend its support by organising educational seminars and activities on the show floor. This year’s seminar topics span risk management, global licensing trends and co-branded café licensing among others, with speakers including executives from the likes of CAA-GBG, Legs Company, Nissan Motor Corp and Sony Creative Products.

In addition, LIMA Japan will also host a Retail Seminar and Market Research event taking place on April 24. Attendees will be provided with the opportunity to learn more about the retail landscape of Japan before moving offsite to explore the LaLaport shopping destination.

A matchmaking service – which has worked particularly well at both Licensing Expo and Brand Licensing Europe – will also be introduced, enabling exhibitors to make appointments and schedule meetings with licensees and attendees.

Jessica Blue, svp, Global Licensing Group at UBM, said: “We are thrilled to see continued commitment from leading global licensors and agents to participate in the Japan show for the second year in a row and also welcome many new exhibitors.”
