The Tiger Who Came to Tea heads to TV

Lupus Films partners with HarperCollins Children’s Books for animated special.

Film and animation company Lupus Films and HarperCollins Children’s Books are teaming up to develop Judith Kerr’s classic picture book, The Tiger Who Came to Tea for TV.

Lupus Films – which made the multi-award winning animated adaptations of Ethel & Ernest, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and The Snowman & The Snowdog – is now working alongside HarperCollins Children’s Books to co-produce a new hand-drawn animated special of the book, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

The Tiger Who Came To Tea has sold over five million copies since it was first published in 1968.

Camilla Deakin, one of the founders of Lupus Films, said: “We are thrilled that HarperCollins has chosen to work with Lupus Films on this very special project.

“It is an honour to be adapting such an iconic children’s book in its landmark anniversary year and we will do our very best to capture the charm and magic of the original book to create a timeless film for children and family audiences.”

Ann-Janine Murtagh, executive publisher at HarperCollins Children’s Books, added: “We are incredibly proud to publish Judith Kerr and how wonderful to be bringing her iconic picture book to life for television whilst we celebrate the golden anniversary year of The Tiger Who Came to Tea.”
