Studio 100 swoops in for Little Airplane

Takeover of US production company part of Studio 100’s international expansion plans.

Studio 100 has confirmed that it has taken over the New York-based animation studio, Little Airplane Productions.

Founded in 1999 by Josh Selig (pictured above, left), Little Airplane has won numerous awards – including 21 Emmys – and is known for series including Small Potatoes, Super Wings and Wonder Pets among others.

The acquisition sees Studio 100 take a major step with its international expansion plans.

Hans Bourlon (pictured above, right), co-founder of Studio 100, commented: “I have greatly admired the work of Little Airplane for years. It’s a unique company. It has amazing creative strength and has produced the most fantastic series and songs.”

Josh Selig, founder and president of Little Airplane Productions, added: “I am thrilled that Little Airplane has joined forces with our friends at Studio 100 and all of their amazing companies.

“There is a great synergy between our businesses and our teams, and we look forward to creating and producing new content together that will resonate with children around the world.”

Josh will work closely with Hans Bourlon and with Hans Ulrich Stoef, ceo of Studio 100 Media. Little Airplane Productions will continue to focus on developing and producing new projects, in close cooperation with Studio 100’s animation studios: Studio 100 Animation in Paris and Flying Bark Productions in Sydney. It will also continue developing for its third party clients.
