Amazon reveals 2017 half time trends report

Rogue One, Fantastic Beasts, Game of Thrones all prove popular with Londoners.

Amazon has released its Summer 2017 Trends Report, with a number of properties with successful licensing programmes making the cut.

The report is a look at the nation’s shopping habits and products that have struck a chord over the past six months, in addition to what we have been streaming and reading.

Highlights for licensed brands come in a number of areas, including DVD sales topping the best seller lists across London over the past few months.

Favourites include Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Game of Thrones (pictured).

Meanwhile, video games fans in Leicester have been snapping up the new Nintendo Switch console, while in Coventry, FIFA 17 for PlayStation 4 has been notching up the sales.

In terms of print books, the top ten is dominated with titles based on celebrity chefs and healthy eating.

Joe Wicks – who signed Global Merchandising Services earlier this year to handle his licensing and CP programme – has all three of his books appear in the top ten, while Mary Berry features at number three.

However, the top spot goes to Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge – who is also a nominee in the Best Music or Celebrity Licensed Property in The UK Licensing Awards this year.

May saw the launch of American Gods on Amazon Prime. This became the most watched show in the UK on Prime Video in its week of launch, as well as Amazon’s most watched fantasy series of the year to date.

In terms of music, top streamed artists on Amazon Music Unlimited include the likes of Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Little Mix, Adele, The Beatles and Queen.

And, speaking of The Beatles, June saw Amazon mark 50 years since The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
