WWE CP division reports growth for Q1

5% revenue growth primarily due to boosted merchandise sales at live events.

WWE has seen revenues for its Consumer Products division grow 5% to $35.1 million for its first quarter ending March 31, 2017.

The increase is primarily due to higher sales of merchandise at the company’s live events and its e-commerce sites.

However, licensing revenues were dented slightly from the prior year quarter, with lower sales of WWE’s franchise video game in international markets.

Licensing revenues for the period stood at $20.1m, while licensing operating income was $13.4m.

Meanwhile, venue merchandise revenues were up 29% to $7.1m from $5.5m in the prior year quarter. This was mostly due to an increase in total attendance at the company’s US events.

WWE Shop revenues were also up 6% to $7.9m, based on an 11% increase in the number of orders to approximately 173,000 and a 4% increase in revenue per order – reflecting effective promotion and enhanced product assortment.
