Black Friday and Cyber Monday could break £2bn

Over a third of UK shoppers hope to benefit from sales, according to new data.

New data from Retail Week has predicted that spending over the period encompassing Black Friday and Cyber Monday will break the £2 billion mark.

According to the figures, 33.5% of consumers are planning to buy something on Black Friday this year. This compares to the 19.2% who bought something in 2014.

Predicted spend for Black Friday is expected to reach £966 million, while Cyber Monday spend is predicted to hit £943 million.

UK sales will also outstrip other European countries, too. Germany is expected to be second, with shoppers there likely to spend £281 million on Black Friday.
