Design brand Finlayson makes in-roads into Asia

Over 60 stores to open in Hong Kong and Mainland China after deal with A-Fontane.

Finnish home textile property Finlayson has struck an extensive licensing deal with Hong Kong bedding brand, A-Fontane.

The agreement means that Finlayson will open at least 41 concept stores and 21 shop-in-shops in Hong Kong and Mainland China in the next few years.

In addition, the collaboration also opens doors for Finlayson products going into hundreds of other stores in the area, according to the company.

The look of the new stores will be similar to that seen in the current Nordic outlets, with Finlayson and A-Fontane working together on the design of the lines.

Risto Voutilainen, coo of Finlayson, commented: “This is an extremely important opening to the Asian market for us.

“In accordance with our export strategy, we are now able to increase our brand awareness together with a well-known local partner. Finlayson’s Nordic look and brand will have a strong presence in the new stores.”

Along with the A-Fontane deal, Finlayson is in the process of negotiating partnership deals with other manufacturers and distributors in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.

Finlayson worked with its global master licensing agent, 5th Wave Brands, and its regional agency for Greater China, ForKids (HK) Promotion Company, on the deal with A-Fontane.
