Zippy turns football pundit on BT Sport

Character joins presenter George Lamb on Football Tonight show.

He’s renowned for excessive talking and fast delivery, so working as a football commentator should have been second nature to Rainbow’s Zippy.

The character made a special guest appearance on BT Sport’s The Football Show last Friday night, joining presenter George Lamb in a regular spot where guests with absolutely no football experience pick up the mic and commentate on edited highlights of a BT Sport football match.

Commentating on the clash between Arsenal and Bayern Munich, Zippy was apparently enjoying the on-field action, until George – like many before him – had to do up Zippy’s zip.

Tracy Griffiths, vp licensing and consumer products EMEA and Australia at FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment, said: “We were delighted to fulfil one of Zippy’s ambitions and take him into the football commentary box with George Lamb.

“Rainbow may not be on screen any more, but the characters still have a huge fan base and continue to resonate with fans of the original series, which ran from 1972-1992.”
