New partnership will give US fans the chance to unlock special features in the app.
Disney has joined forces with Uber for its latest partnership for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Uber users will be able to unlock special Rogue One features and check out exclusive video content – including behind the scenes footage – in the app.
The promotion runs from December 12-18 in cities worldwide served by Uber, timed to coincide with the movie’s cinema release.
To access the content in the updated app, users simply tap ‘activate’ on the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story card. That will replace the Uber vehicle images showing the current location with Star Wars starships.
“This collaboration delivers – at your fingertips – a first-of-its-kind warm-up to the journey and vehicles you’ll see in Rogue One,” said Asad Ayaz, evp of marketing at the Walt Disney Studios.
Rogue One is anticipated to open to over $130 million at the box office when it arrives later this week.
