The winner of this year’s License This competition at Brand Licensing Europe is May The Thoughts Be With You. Created by Charlotte Reed, it is a book of her own thoughts illustrated with cheerful cartoon characters. The judges thought that the property “demonstrated excellent potential”.

Cartoon Network has extended its UK partnership with Dr Martens for Adventure Time, with a fourth collection launching in autumn/winter featuring Lumpy Space Princess and Ice King. Dr Martens will also launch an all-over multi-character print t-shirt and backpack.

Beanstalk is to represent Bear Grylls on a new range of consumer products. The agent will build the lifestyle programme in Europe and the US, carrying the brand’s vision to ‘Inspire, Equip and Empower’. Categories being targeted will include apparel, accessories and outdoor.

Apparel licensee Blues Clothing has added the Halo franchise to its roster. The company will launch a boys’ apparel range in the UK and Ireland for spring/summer 2017, aimed at 8-16 year olds. The deal was secured by Tinderbox, a division of Beanstalk.

The Pokémon Company International has extended the brand’s reach in France. It has signed deals with Marketing Licensed Products for teen and adult daywear and nightwear; Ravensburgers for puzzles; Textiss/Freegun for kids and adults underwear and accessories; and RJ-Romain Jerome for a limited edition line of high-end watches.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment has inked a deal with Regatta Great Outdoors for outdoor apparel for Thunderbirds Are Go.

Global Icons is to represent the Vespa brand, securing a deal with Piaggio Group to develop a worldwide licensing programme.

Discovery Consumer Products is launching a licensing programme around the Eurosport brand. 2017 will see the arrival of a wide range of cycling products for children and adults. Products will debut in the UK, Germany, Italy and France, followed by the Netherlands, Nordics, Spain, Poland, Romania, Russia and the Middle East. The brand will also be aligning itself with key broadcasting events, such as the Tour de France in July 2017, while there are also plans to expand the brand into lifestyle fashion, entry level sports equipment for kids and Eurosport-owned events merchandise.

FremantleMedia Kids & Family has confirmed a raft of new European licensees for Kate & Mim-Mim. In Spain, Planeta Junior has secured a deal with Penguin Random House and Lacassa, while Big Picture will be issuing new home entertainment releases. In Italy, Play Press has launched activity and sticker books; Ferrarie has rainwear and Perletti has umbrellas. Finally, in CEE, deals have been struck with Edipresse for Poland and Albatross for Czech Republic and Slovakia in publishing.

The creator of preschool brand Boj has secured a new deal with SEGA Amusement International. The company revealed a range of plush toys and stationery at BLE. Pesky Productions also confirmed that Boj has hit number three on the list of CBeebies top performers, having reached 3.8 million 0-6 year olds in the past two years.

Chupa Chups teamed up with The Rodnik Band, a London-based art fashion label, for a special art exhibit and fashion project at Brand Licensing Europe. The collaboration also involves an original collection of ready to wear dresses and accessories. A fashion show highlighted the designs, which are available for exclusive apparel collections and for premium licensing projects.
