Gemma celebrating emoji sales success

Retailers seeing high demand for licensee’s range of cards and wrap featuring brand.

Gemma is celebrating strong sales success with its new line of emoji cards and wrap.

Indeed, the line is up there with “some of the all time great brands we have been involved with” according to licensing director, Tim Rudd-Clarke.

The coordinated range includes general birthday, ages, relations and occasions caption cards, as well as gift packaging such as gift bags, roll wrap and packs containing two sheets of paper and two tags.

The emoji range, created in-house at Gemma’s studio, has been specifically designed with millennials in mind, but also has wider appeal with juvenile, tween and teens.

Tim commented: “Every once in a while you get one of those licences that seem to set a new benchmark. I am so pleased to say that emoji has become one of those ‘wow! where did that come from’ brands.

“In 2015, we spotted the emoji company at Licensing Expo, right at the back of the hall. Thalia [Clare, licensing executive] and I were so excited and immediately registered our interest. We followed up with Global Merchandising, emoji’s official agent, back in the UK, and signed our deal. I am pleased to say the performance of our emoji range is up there with some of the all-time great brands we have been involved with.

“Our customers are telling us product is absolutely flying off the fixtures – in fact we’ve one account who is 400% over forecast. So, it’s all hands to the printing presses.”

Thalia Clare, licensing executive, added: “We’re delighted to be working with Global Merchandising on our emoji greetings range. The range only launched in March this year so we’re really excited to hear it’s already a top seller for our customers.

“Our product development and design studio team are already developing further on-trend skus for our accounts, and Christmas 2016 designs across cards and wrap are ready to order now.”
