Licensee to publish latest book in the series, Return to the Isle of the Lost.
Disney publishing licensee Parragon is growing the Descendants brand, rolling out the latest young adult novel in the series.
Return to the Isle of the Lost: A Descendants Novel is the sequel to the New York Times best seller, The Isle of the Lost – this, in turn, was the book prequel to the Disney Channel Original Movie, Descendants.
Descendants features the children of Disney’s classic villains and heroes.
The novel spent 37 weeks on the New York Times best seller list – 15 of which were at the number one spot – and has more than one million copies in print to date.
The movie has been watched by over 2.67 million viewers in the UK and is the number one UK Disney Channel Original Movie ever among girls.
Nicola Deschamps, publisher, licensed, Parragon said: “With the incredible success of The Isle of the Lost, we’re absolutely delighted to bring fans of the franchise, and readers of all ages, an exciting new title to spark their imaginations ahead of the forthcoming film, Descendant’s 2, release next year.
“With Melissa’s [De la Cruz, the author] characteristic wit and charm, it is no wonder that the first novel has enjoyed such success and we are excited to replicate this with the second installment.”
The novel will be supported with TVRs across Disney Channel UK and a strong social media presence across Parragon’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
