E-Commerce Manager (Consumer Products & Experiences)

Penguin Ventures, the consumer products and experiences division of Penguin Random House Children’s UK, is looking for an ambitious and innovative E-commerce Manager to ensure our brands continue to be elevated across the digital landscape.

We’re off the page and on an adventure.

We take our iconic literary brands and characters: Peter Rabbit, The Snowman, Spot, Flower Fairies and more, and take them on new adventures. Anything you see – whether that’s on products, at retail, part of promotions, food and drink, exhibitions or even location-based experiences – that use our brands, has been managed and licensed through our team.

The role

Penguin Ventures is looking for an individual who is passionate about ecommerce and is looking for a role that gives them complete ownership of the mix of ecommerce platforms for our brands. This role is vital to ensuring a positive online customer shopping experience whether that’s through effective product placement on our Amazon and direct to consumer platforms or the marketing of these platforms to current or potential new audiences.

You will be responsible for managing and executing the ecommerce strategy, marketing implementation and building our DTC business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Taking the lead on the overall ecommerce calendar of activity for our household brands such as Peter Rabbit, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Snowman and Flower Fairies
  • Leading all marketing plans and activities; including marketing of DTC stores and managing paid for and organic promotions
  • Managing the relationship with our DTC ecommerce partner across our branded print on demand and personalisation stores
  • Collaborating with & support licensees with new product launches, online exclusive ranges, promotional campaigns and cross category activations. Drive best in class page listings from partners and be a key point of contact for all e commerce activity
  • Working with colleagues to ensure key trading periods are maximised for our brands and licensees
  • Optimising all branded Amazon store fronts and developing bespoke marketing activity calendar
  • Implementing and managing AMS campaigns, including considering the key products to showcase from licensees

What you’ll bring

We are looking for someone who understands consumer products or has a willingness to learn about the world of licensing and can explain why some products work for certain brands, while others don’t. You certainly don’t need to have worked in publishing before, or even children’s brands however we’d like you to be just as passionate about them as we are! Penguin Ventures is a team of hard-working experts who honour the portfolio and constantly strive to do good, and better.

Essential criteria:

  • Prior experience of working in a customer-focused ecommerce, sales or digital trading role, and dealing with product catalogues across various marketplaces.
  • Experience with Amazon Media Services, particularly booking and analysing campaigns
  • Demonstrate ability to build Amazon store fronts and work within Amazon’s advertising platform
  • Experience in ecommerce copywriting and product catalogue management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to different teams internally and externally
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify problems, generate solutions, analyse data and report findings
  • A solid understanding of key ecommerce KPIs with the ability to analyse data and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Confident using the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel and understand EDI and API processes.

Preferred criteria:

  • If you have worked with CMS platforms e.g. Shopify, that would be a bonus (but not required)
  • Experience using HTML and CSS coding
