Following its biggest shopping day of the year, Argos has shared insights on how the UK shopped this Black Friday, including top selling products, the busiest hour for shopping and more.
Argos revealed that 1 in 4 people in the UK visited its website on Black Friday weekend, with over 70% of them visiting via a mobile device.
On Black Friday itself, the busiest hour for shopping was between 10:00-11:00, with nearly 500 orders being made a minute. The average basket spend over the weekend was around £100.
Electricals, home and toys were the most popular categories being shopped as customers aimed to get ahead of Christmas gift buying, with Argos selling six air fryers a minute over the Black Friday weekend.
“This year was our biggest Black Friday to date and we’ve worked hard to ensure our customers had access to thousands of great offers on the most wanted products throughout the entirety of November,” commented Matt Leeser, commercial director, general merchandise. “From the start of our Black Friday event on 1 November, customers have been eagerly adding products to their wish lists on Argos.co.uk and our app. We’ve seen a 110% increase in wish list additions in November compared to the rest of the year as customers started their planning for the gifting season.
“Since Black Friday, we’ve received over 16 million visits to the Argos app and website, up 13% compared to last year, with 1 in 4 people in the UK visiting Argos online to browse and shop our range of offers. With Black Friday falling a week later this year and aligning with the national pay day, we’ve seen many customers use it as an opportunity to get ahead on their Christmas gift shopping across electricals, home and toys.
“We’re also proud to have brought back Argos’ Price Promise badge this year, which means that customers can trust that when shopping Black Friday deals at Argos that the price won’t go lower before Christmas Day.”
